Yesterday didn't work out so well. We left the windows open in the bedroom because it was pretty warm, but by the end of the afternoon, the exhaust fumes from the street (trapped in heat & humidity) began to overwhelm Nicole. She felt like she had a horrible flu, and was completely drained. At first we thought she potentially had a virus or bacterial infection of some sort (just got over a UTI in the hospital), but the feeling really coincided with rush hour, and finally subsided later in the evening when everything cooled down.
This morning she felt like she took a big hit from this episode yesterday, and it made eating all the more difficult. She got it down, and we decided to try the air conditioner in the bedroom. After wrangling with the machine for a while, and sealing up all gaps with aluminum foil, I turned it on. Within five minutes she was affected by the EMF generated by the unit, and I had to shut it off. After eating a bit myself, and having some necessary green tea, I'm about to remove it again, then steam-clean the adjacent room so we can try to leave the bedroom door open for air, and put the AC at the far end of the other room, and see how it goes.
Rhode Islanders, if you have any time to visit this week, especially during the daytime, that would be a great help. Also, we're still keeping our eye out for more rural temp housing around here. Out-of-towners, we'll need some of you to come to Vermont to help us set up. I want to start thinking about what type of shifts folks can do once we move. Come for a week? Come for a month?
deep,
J
